Triton Begins Production of Wireless RL5000 ATM CDS and RBS Lynk Certify Triton’s CDMA Wireless Communication Option
Long Beach, MS, March 1, 2005 – CDS and RBS Lynk are the first processors to certify Triton’s CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) wireless solution. RBS Lynk, a leading provider of electronic payment processing services and a full-service ATM driver certified Triton’s new communication capability on December 7, 2004. Columbus Data Services (CDS), a single-source provider of services such as transaction processing and cash management announced on February 10, 2005 that they have also certified the ATM manufacturer’s CDMA option. Several other processors including NYCE, Core Data, Nationwide Money Services, Switch Commerce and ITECH are working with Triton to certify this solution. Triton, the leading provider of ATMs for off-premise locations, began production of the RL5000 featuring the CDMA wireless communication option on February 18, 2005.
Wireless communications offer mobility, faster transactions, and cost reductions. ATM operators can deploy terminals in temporary locations without having to pay the costs of installing a phone line. Also, transaction speeds are 2-3 times faster than traditional dial-up communication with lower monthly costs. Triton’s wireless carrier offers one of the largest data networks in the country enabling ATM transactions to be performed wherever digital cellular service is available.
“Triton's ability to support CDMA on their ATMs offers many advantages,” said John Willmon, vice president of business development at CDS. “First, it gives you the ability to move the ATM anywhere within the wireless provider’s footprint without having to install a phone line, and it gives you faster transactions at a cost that is less than the cost of a dialup line, which means higher transactions in high volume locations.”
“We are very excited about the addition of the wireless communication option in Triton’s product line. The RL5000 is just the first of several models to be produced with this new offering,” says Triton president Brian Kett. He continued, “We anticipate that both the retail and financial markets will welcome this new technology and that uptake of the RL5000 with wireless will be quick.”
